[ARCHIVED] Snow Removal Reminder

City of Torrington

The City of Torrington would like to remind everyone who owns or operates property in Torrington, whether it is occupied or not, that you are required to remove the snow and ice from all walkways within 24 hours after a snow event. During the last few snow events the City has received numerous complaints from residents and business owners about snow being piled in front of entrances, on fire hydrants, blocking corner drains and/or being pushed into the streets and alleys. City Ordinance, Sec. 12.04.110. – Obstruction on streets, sidewalks, etc. – Duty, states that it shall be unlawful for any owner, agent, lessee, tenant, or other person occupying or having charge or control of any premises or any individual to permit any type of obstruction upon any street, sidewalk, alley, easement and right-of-way. Mayor Adams has reminded all City crews as well about the problems these issues have caused and has instructed them to try to do their best to deposit snow in the proper areas. The City is urging all residents to please remind anyone removing snow for them to try to keep it all on the property itself. There are designated snow routes for priority snow removal. A map of those routes can be seen at www.torringtonwy.gov. For any questions or concerns regarding this matter please contact Dennis Estes at (307) 532-0298/destes@torringtonwy.gov or Ed Hawley at (307) 532-6370/ehawley@torringtonwy.gov
